Oftentimes, in the winter, temperatures in Bodhgaya can drop below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Some of the 170 children walk as far as 1 mile each way to class. RICEF recently purchased warm clothing for all 170 students for the 2024-2025 school year.

At the conclusion of the 2023-2024 year, the school was in a financial deficit. Although teachers had not been paid for several months, they continued to teach every school day. Through donations, RICEF was able to provide sufficient funds to cover back salaries for all teachers.
